In our last meeting during worship I shared a picture that I felt God remind me of. My eldest son was in sunday school and he came home with some seeds pushed into a little bit of dirt in a pot, he proudly put it into my hands and told me "we have to grow it". Simple enough.
I had no idea what it was, what it would turn into... or if there was anything in the pot at all, it could simply be a pot of dirt for all I knew. But I began watering it none the less.
A few days later some shoots began to appear. A week later its a sprawling mass of green. To my untrained eye it looks like a pot of weeds.
But after a while, and we are still very much in this process, buds have started to appear on the top of the stems, which I'm still very much hoping will turn into beautiful flowers.
I felt God remind me of these things when we look at our lives. As worshippers and worship leaders in Chawn we need to continually be attentive to our spirtual lives. Just like the plants that needs continual watering and placing in the sun.
At times it may seem like we are watering nothing. Nothing is growing, nothing is moving. But that might be because you are not spending enough time in prayer, or worshipping or simply not enough time in the sun. (A nice spiritual simile for you here , spend more time in the Son!)
I promise you, as you dig in to God and keep worshipping him in your own time... you will start to see spiritual breakthrough. It may not look like much at first, but in time it will flower and it will be beautiful.
We dont need to be perfect, we just need to be on the journey. Thats the place where we worship lead from, and thats part of how we draw others into the presence of God.
